The energy in your home affects your mood, creativity, and overall sense of well-being. Have you ever walked into a room and noticed an immediate shift in how you feel—sometimes uneasy, other times peaceful and welcoming? These subtle impressions are often our response to the energy in a space.

Just as dust settles on furniture, energy also accumulates and needs to be cleared and refreshed from time to time. This is especially important after arguments, periods of grief or loss, or when moving into a new home or workspace where others have left their energetic imprint.

In this article, I’ll share the sound healing and energetic tools I use in my own home. You don’t need everything I use. What truly transforms energy is a clear intention, a heart-centered focus, and visualizing what you want to bring into the space. Your instruments, voice, or other tools simply help carry those frequencies into the room.

Before beginning a session, I gather what I’ll be working with. This might include lighting a candle, placing fresh flowers in a vase, or opening a window to invite in fresh energy. Once ready, I pause and set my intention.

Steps for Clearing Energy

1. Pause and Set Your Intention

Begin by taking a moment to pause and reflect on your purpose for the session. Your intention helps guide and direct the energy.

For example, if a room has held conflict, your intention might be to release dissonant energy and restore harmony and peace. If your creative space feels blocked, you may choose to clear stagnant energy and invite inspiration and flow.

This step is especially important when working in someone else’s home, where your role is to guide the space toward harmony, balance, and renewed energy.

2. Offer Gratitude to the Home

I like to begin by offering gratitude to the home. Expressing appreciation helps the energy become more receptive to change—it’s like giving the space a big hug.

For this step, I often use a Tibetan singing bowl tuned to the heart chakra. As I play the bowl, I move through the room so its vibrations reach every corner, while sending love and appreciation into the space.

You can also use a single flower or another meaningful object that symbolizes love and gratitude. Spritzing the room with lavender or rose essential oil while holding a sense of appreciation is another gentle way to support this step.

3. Clear Stuck or Distorted Energy

Just as you would dust furniture, you can use sound and intention to “dust” the energy in a room. My favorite tools for this step are the 528 Solfeggio tuning fork and the Crystal Singing Pyramid.

The 528 tuning fork is often associated with harmony, botanical life, and the frequencies of sunlight. I find it helpful for cleansing and rebalancing the energy in a space.

As you move around the room, send sound over furniture, into corners, across the floors, and around plants, while holding the intention to clear and transform the energy.

You may notice certain areas feel heavier—your breath may shorten or your muscles tighten. If that happens, simply acknowledge it and gently return your focus to clearing and balancing the space. Energy follows both attention and intention, and too much focus on what feels negative can sometimes keep it stuck.

Areas where arguments or stress occurred may need extra care. In those spots, I often use the Crystal Singing Pyramid, which is especially effective for releasing and shifting stagnant energy.

I’ve also noticed that plants can absorb discordant energy, almost as if they are holding it for the room. Plants naturally help transform energy over time through their own living frequency. Many healers associate botanical life with the 528 frequency, often described as the vibration of sunlight, growth, and divine love. This may be one reason plants have such a harmonizing presence in our spaces, quietly helping to shift and uplift the energy of a room. Using sound around plants can further support this process, helping to lift and rebalance the energy they hold.

If you don’t have these instruments, there are many other ways to clear a space. You might use sage or incense, essential oils such as peppermint or eucalyptus, feathers, or sound tools like drums, rattles, bells, or gongs. Choose what feels most supportive and resonates with you.

I also like to use fresh rosemary to clear energy around my computer. To support creative flow, I make a small bouquet and gently move it over my computer and workspace, clearing stagnant or repetitive energy. Afterward, I place the rosemary in a vase nearby—the fresh scent helps clear the mind and support focus.

4. Bringing in Balanced and Harmonizing Energy

After clearing the space, I like to bring in balanced and harmonizing energy. One of my favorite tools for this is the C and G Body Tuning Forks. Together, these forks create a perfect fifth, a harmonic interval that supports deep relaxation, higher awareness, and energetic unification. Their tones help uplift the space and bring it into a more harmonious balance.

At times, I may use a hanging chime tuned to a harmonic scale. Gently moving the chime creates a subtle flow of air, which helps refresh and circulate the energy in the room. Other Chimes which offer a beautiful balancing energy are the Zaphir or Koshi chimes - I love them!

Tibetan or crystal bowls that blend well together can be played for several minutes to deepen the sense of balance and coherence in the space.

Essential oils such as lavender and ylang-ylang offer a calming, harmonizing influence. Diffusing them into the air or lightly spritzing the room can help soften and balance the energy, while adding grapefruit or lemon gently lifts and refreshes the space.

The yin-yang symbol is another beautiful way to support balance. You might use a candle with this symbol, or visualize tracing a yin-yang or figure-eight pattern in the air with your hand. The figure eight represents the continuous, harmonious flow of energy—moving, balancing, and renewing itself as you send that intention into the space.

5. Grounding the Energy

The final step is to ground the energy in the room, anchoring it to the earth to create stability, warmth, and a sense of belonging. Grounding helps the space settle after the clearing process, allowing the energy to feel contained, calm, and supportive. It brings a feeling of safety and comfort, inviting the body and nervous system to relax and rest. When a room is well grounded, it becomes a place where you can truly exhale—where the energy feels steady, nurturing, and welcoming.

To complete my grounding session, I like to create a simple altar by placing a candle at the center and surrounding it with natural elements such as pine needles, dried flowers, stones, crystals, or leaves. As I arrange each item, I keep my attention on connecting the room to the earth, allowing the energy to settle and become grounded.

Once the altar is complete, I choose an instrument to help anchor that energy. I often use the Ohm tuning fork, 136.1 Hz, which resonates with the frequency of the earth and brings a deep sense of stability. The Sonic Slider fork, tuned to the Schumann Resonance, is another beautiful option for gently grounding and integrating the energy of the space.

There are many beautiful practices you can use to further ground your space, such as drumming, chanting, or gentle movement and dance. Each of these helps root the energy more fully into the room, allowing it to settle and integrate.

Clearing and harmonizing your home is less about the tools you use and more about the presence you bring. It is your intention, awareness, and willingness to listen to the space that truly guide transformation.

Trust your intuition, explore what resonates with you, and allow your home to become a place that feels supportive, peaceful, and alive with renewed energy.

With blessings, Valerie
