The Dance Between Sound and Body

Over the years, working with tuning forks has taught me to listen beyond systems and structures. My first set of forks was a Solfeggio set focused on the seven main chakras, yet as I worked with people, I noticed something unexpected—the forks often wanted to be played over other energy centers. I remember wondering, “Can I really play a root chakra fork over the throat?” The answer quickly became yes, and the results were amazing.

What became clear to me is that sound doesn’t follow rigid maps. The frequencies seem to know where to go, responding to the body’s needs in ways far more intelligent than any single system we create. While I work with the seven chakras, I prefer to think of them as energy centers or vortexes—dynamic points that regulate the flow of energy and information.

When I work with tuning forks, my focus is simply on listening to the body and letting sound support balance and harmony. Nothing feels fixed, and I stay open to what unfolds. Working with sound is beautiful, magical, and incredibly powerful—I love it.

This is a poem I wrote that reflects that experience for me:

The Tuning fork’s Voice

As you gently place a tuning fork on the body with intention,

Its vibration speaks into the fascial web of the body.

A song of frequency - entering the body’s inner waterways

The sound moves through fluid and fiber, awakening the body’s quiet intelligence

Pathways of light and current stir, responding, realigning, remembering harmony

What begins at a single point is felt throughout the whole being—

a gentle wave of coherence rippling through the field of the body.

Guiding the body, mind, and spirit to reorganize itself toward greater coherence, balance and harmony.

Blessings, Valerie

Sound has become one of the quiet companions in my work — a way of supporting the body that is both simple and deeply layered. Over the years, I’ve explored many instruments and approaches, each offering a slightly different doorway into listening.

Recently, I recorded a short video sharing one small tool I’ve been enjoying: the Biosonics Concert Ball. What I appreciate most is how it allows several tuning fork frequencies to be experienced at once, creating a blended sound that can be received without effort.

If you’re curious about how sound can be used in this way, I invite you to watch the video above.
