Lifting Moods so your “heart can sing”

In Chinese medicine they teach about two invisible energies called Chi and Shen. These are poetic descriptive names for the energies which are created in the body when we are healthy and vibrant. When your connection with Shen and the flow of Chi (life force energy) through your body is strong, you feel a positive shift in your energy and perspective. It’s like the “birds are singing” again.

In this post, I want to focus on the Chinese concept of Shen. When someone is said to have balanced Shen, they are connected to their heart and to their Spirit. They are connected to their Creator and live their life guided by Spirit. Their eyes have a brightness to them and their mind is clear. They have a deep desire to find their life purpose. And align their life with people, situations and places which “make their heart sing”.

When we spend too much time in our heads trying to figure life out, we lose connection with our hearts. This depletes Shen. We begin to feel a lack of confidence in our decisions, we feel empty, confused, and alone. We may dive into our ego’s perception of our self-such as “I am a great manager, a mother, a funny person,” etc.  But these are only aspects of how we express ourselves in this world. Striving to maintain these identities can cause us great stress or turmoil. When the life you are living does not bring you joy, or is not inspiring and your creativity seems gone, you can know that you have lost your Shen.

Nature’s Sunshine’s Chinese Mood Elevator formula helps restore your connection with Shen. It brings energy into your heart center while increasing vitality and promoting a greater sense of well-being. The formula gently cleanses the liver, improves circulation and promotes healthy digestion which helps to improve the flow of “Chi” (life force energy) throughout the body. I have used this formula for 25 years. It helps people lift the the dark cloud off their shoulders and feel motivated to make positive changes in their lives. I like to combine this formula with Hawthorn berries a wonderful tonic herb for the heart. Hawthorn improves circulation in the body, balances heart rhythms and calms the nervous system. It is a loving supportive herb which helps a person to be more courageous to move through difficult challenges in their life. Taken at bedtime, it quiets the heart and relieves anxiety, promoting a more restful sleep.

If you are feeling that you have lost your Shen I encourage you to try these formulas for a several months. During this time, begin to evaluate what you would really like to experience in your life. What excites you? What makes your heart sing? Evaluate what changes you need to make to take better care for your physical body. Commit to eating healthier foods and drink plenty of water. This is important because Chinese Mood Elevator helps to cleanse the liver and blood. Even though you have tried to do these things in the past, you will find that you are better able to do them while on these formulas.

And lastly, take time each day to pray, meditate and connect with your higher self (your Spirit self) and to your Creator. For this is the key to abundant Shen. Celebrate your inner light, follow the things which light up your Soul. You may not know where it is leading you, but you can feel its pull. Follow your inner light as it connects you back to your true authentic self and gives you back your power. Don't be afraid, the Universe will support you every step of the way; opening doors and lighting the path before you.

Blessings, Valerie
